The role of foreign toponyms in historical and contemporary branding practices and conspicuous consumption provide a record of emotional and commercial attachment between nations. Here, the accumulation of products sold by German companies to the domestic population named after geographic locations in the U.S. reflect an aspect of the former’s intercultural nostalgia for the latter.
